Villages · Half day
Up off the coast road and into the hills, where the Riviera keeps its medieval villages, its artists and its quiet.
The coast gets the attention, but the villages behind it are where the Côte d'Azur is at its most itself. Èze is a fortified eagle's nest on a limestone spur. Saint-Paul-de-Vence is a walled village that half the twentieth century's painters used as a studio — Chagall is buried in the cemetery there.
Both are best reached the slow way, on the small roads, in a car with no roof.
The route
Cobbled lanes spiralling up to a ruined castle and a tropical garden, with the sea 400 metres straight down.
The stretch between the two villages runs through pine and olive terraces with almost no traffic — one of the best drives on the Riviera.
Ramparts, galleries and the boules pitch outside the gate. A village that has been painted more often than most cities.
We stop wherever the light and the view are worth it — that is the whole point of going by Méhari.

Before you go
Every tour is private and built around you, so we quote per party rather than per seat. Message us and we'll come back personally.
Good to know
Both villages are pedestrian-only and built on hills, with cobbles and steps. Comfortable shoes matter more than anything else you bring.
We can, though it makes for a long day. Tell us what matters most to you and we will shape the route around it.
Not within a half day alongside both villages, but we can build a tour around it if that is what you want to see.
Èze fills up in the middle of the day in summer. Going early or late makes a real difference, and we will suggest a time when you message.
